Therapy for

humans being human

in New York

I’m Dr. Lee, licensed psychologist in New York and founder of Nalu Psychotherapy.

My practice is shaped by my cross-cultural background, nine years of clinical experience, and a belief that people grow best when they feel accepted for who they are. My style is warm, human, and thoughtfully tailored to each person’s needs.

In therapy, we’ll explore the deeper “why am I like this?” questions and the very real “okay, so what can I do about that?” — so you can understand yourself more clearly and learn practical tools to feel better.

I identify as an Asian American woman and have a special passion for working with people of color (BIPOC), immigrants, LGBTQIA+ communities, international students, and anyone who’s felt “in between” worlds. I offer virtual therapy for adults, adolescents, families, and couples in both English and Korean.

Welcome

My approach

  • Evidence-based: Science matters. I tailor interventions (DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness) that have been proven to be effective for your specific concerns.

How it works

1. Schedule a free consultation

Book a 15-minute call so we can talk about what you’re looking for, how I can help, and any questions you have. It’s a chance for us to get a feel for the fit — and if I’m not the right match, I’ll point you in the right direction.

2. Schedule an initial session

If it feels like a good fit, we’ll set up a 60-minute first session and I’ll send over simple intake forms. In this session, we’ll talk through what brings you in and what you’re hoping for, and begin making a plan together.

3. Begin ongoing sessions

From there, we’ll meet regularly (usually weekly for 45 minutes) to talk about what’s coming up and work on your goals. We’ll check in as we go, adjust the approach when needed, and make sure the pace feels right for you.

Being human is hard

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning who you are and where you’re headed, I’m glad you made it here.

Being human can be challenging, but therapy can make the hard stuff feel a bit clearer and lighter. It can also help you be a kinder friend to yourself and move through life’s chaos with more ease and openness.

Wherever you are right now, there is room for hope.
