Therapy for Insight and Change
Virtual therapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families across New York
I’m Dr. Lee, licensed psychologist in New York and founder of Nalu Psychotherapy.
In therapy, we’ll explore the “why am I like this?” questions and the very real “okay, so what can I do about that?” — so you can understand yourself more deeply and learn practical tools to feel better.
My practice is shaped by ten years of clinical experience with adolescents and adults in hospital, community, school, and private practice settings. As an Asian American woman, I especially enjoy working with people of color (BIPOC), immigrants, LGBTQIA+ communities, international students, and anyone who’s felt “in between” worlds.
I received my PhD from New York University and EdM from Harvard University. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and also draw from CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches.
I provide therapy in English and Korean. 한국어로도 상담 가능합니다.

How I can help
Your patterns are not failures, but adaptations. Many of the patterns that bring people to therapy once helped them cope or survive. Healing often begins by recognizing that the patterns that once protected us may no longer be helpful or sustainable.
I believe meaningful therapy combines both insight and change. The psychodynamic part of our work helps us understand how these patterns developed and what functions they have served. From there, we can begin making room for new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. To support this process, I tailor evidence-based interventions (DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness) to your unique needs and goals.
Therapy does not happen in a vacuum. We’ll make space for how your past experiences, cultural/familial background, and identities shape the present. I also try to bring my genuine human self to our relationship and create a space where you can show up without needing to filter yourself or have everything figured out.
This process can be messy and vulnerable at times, but not having to carry all of it alone can help make what feels heavy a bit more manageable and grounded.
How it works
1. Schedule a free consultation
Book a 15-minute call so we can talk about what you’re looking for, how I can help, and any questions you have. It’s a chance for us to get a feel for the fit — and if I’m not the right match, I’ll point you in the right direction.
2. Schedule an initial session
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll set up a 60-minute first session and I’ll send over simple intake forms. In this session, we’ll talk through what brings you in and what you’re hoping for, and begin making a plan together.
3. Begin ongoing sessions
From there, we’ll meet regularly (usually weekly for 45 minutes) to talk about what’s coming up and work on your goals. We’ll check in as we go, adjust the approach when needed, and make sure the pace feels right for you.
